This the drawing I did while watching baseball games in the evenings. It is pencil on Canson Artboard. I have a wonderful book with images from 18th century prints of all kinds of animals and I like the ones with lots of animals in a scene. So I thought I would do one of my own with the inspiration of the canyon just east of our home and a fawn I found injured on the road there a month ago. I was plein air painting there and on the way down I saw her in the road, injured. Someone had hit her and she was in the middle of the road. I parked my car in the middle of the road and picked her up and put her next to the road. She tried to stand but laid down right away. I left her there assuming Mom was probably in the trees frantic. I reported to the rangers down the road where she was but kind of doubt anything was done or could be done..but I choose to hope she was just stunned and is ok. Of course I had the thought that I could take her home and nurse her to health..but I squelched that thought..she was better off there hopefully within reach of her mother. I will never forget how she felt to pick her up and carry her. By the time I got back to my car there were several impatient drivers waiting for me to move my car so they could race down the canyon instead of enjoying the beautiful scenery..sigh.

Superbes dessins... J'espère qu'effectivement ce jeune faon aura retrouvé ses esprits aux côtés de sa mère... Mais j'ai tout de même un doute.
